Hey there! I’m Juan Martinez, and I’m the executive producer at Fatshark, part of the team behind Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. I’m thrilled to invite PlayStation players to dive into the intense four-player co-op adventure we’ve crafted just for you.
Today, we’re launching Warhammer 40,000: Darktide on the PS5 for those eager players who pre-ordered the Imperial Edition. The excitement doesn’t end there—we’re rolling out the full release for all PS5 players on December 3.
Darktide made its first appearance on PC in November 2022, and we haven’t rested since. We’ve poured our energy into expanding the game with nine major updates, along with a staggering 25+ content patches and improvements. Our PS5 release aligns perfectly with the debut of our 10th major free update, Grim Protocols. And trust us, there’s plenty more to come in the future!

We’ve always harbored the dream of bringing the Warhammer 40,000 universe to life, and with Darktide, we’ve accomplished just that. In this game, you and three other players band together as Rejects—convicts drafted by the Inquisition—to reclaim Tertium, a city overwhelmed by Chaos. Our combat system lets you fluidly switch between melee and ranged attacks, and we’ve fine-tuned it to perfection.
In preparing Darktide for PS5, we dedicated ourselves to ensuring you get the most immersive experience possible. We put in a lot of effort to make the game shine on PS5 hardware. You can opt for Performance mode, which runs at a smooth 60FPS with 1440p resolution, or Quality mode for 30FPS in stunning 4K. For those on PS5 Pro, we’ve employed PSSR technology to keep things running at a crisp 60FPS in 4K.
Another area we focused on heavily is the DualSense wireless controller. We aimed to make it feel like an extension of the Warhammer 40,000: Darktide experience. Whether you’re unleashing explosive rounds from a Boltgun or tapping into psyker powers with a Force Staff, each weapon brings a distinct feel as you change your loadout.
Automatic weapons are more visceral than ever, thanks to the controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. You’ll sense every shot as the triggers vibrate and the rumble kicks in. When your ammo runs low, the triggers intensify, giving you a tactile cue. And feeling the Chainsword hum as it slices through foes? It’s pure, hectic joy. We can’t wait for you to try it all out on December 3.

We’ve gone all out with the character creator to make Tertium feel like home. Here, you can tailor your Reject’s class, appearance, backstory, and voice to your liking. Our goal is to let you immerse yourself in this world on your terms.
Each class offers a deep talent tree, letting you tweak your play style across three primary domains and everything in-between. Plus, our Itemization overhaul gives you the pick of 40+ weapon families to master.
As we roll into December 3, not only is Darktide launching on PlayStation, but our Grim Protocols update is too, packed with fresh content. We’re adding a new endgame mode called Havoc, designed to push experienced players to their limits. Prepare for a challenge!
A fresh mission will soon join our library of 20+ existing missions, setting you loose in the Carnival—an infamous district known for its mix of entertainment and shady activities.
Plus, we’re introducing three additional weapon families. Harness the devastating power of Two-Handed Force and Power Swords, along with the robust Ogryn Heavy Stubber, to decimate enemy ranks.
Peek in on our official PS5 updates to keep tabs on everything coming your way in 2025. Remember, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide welcomes you to PS5 from December 3. Step into Tertium, Rejects. Face the trials ahead, and fight for the Emperor!
