As the new year kicks off, Xbox gamers are facing yet another round of server shutdowns, potentially leaving some favorite titles adrift. To help you navigate this, we’ve put together a list highlighting the scheduled Xbox server closures for January 2025, complementing our previous roundup from December 2024.
### Upcoming Xbox Server Closures in January 2025
First on the roster is WWE 2K23. Originally set to go offline on September 30, 2K Games decided to extend the servers’ life until January. However, come January 6, 2025, both the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One versions will lose online capabilities. This means that a total of 13 achievements for each version of the game will no longer be available. Plus, WWE 2K23 is no longer available for purchase on the Xbox store, so if you don’t already own it, your chance to play is over.
Next up, the servers for the EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA Tour will close on January 16, 2025. This golf simulator includes two online-only achievements that will disappear with the server shutdown: “Playing For Fun” and “Playing For Rank.” Both achievements are straightforward, simply requiring participation in unranked head-to-head games. Keep in mind, though, EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA Tour already has two achievements that are unobtainable, so this might be a tough completion for some.
Finally, Bandai Namco’s Blue Protocol faces its shutdown on January 18, 2025. This free-to-play MMORPG had its Western release scrapped and is only accessible via the Japanese Xbox store, suggesting that not many players might have started it. With the servers going offline, all achievements connected to Blue Protocol will be discontinued.
If you’ve missed it, December 2024 saw a significant 19 Xbox games get delisted, with some big names included among them. Are there any online achievements from these games you still need to grab before they disappear forever? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
