According to recent rumors, the Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to arrive in Europe with a price tag of €400. This anticipation comes with whispers about its launch lineup, which suggests a robust offering of at least 25 games. Some of these new titles are speculated to cost more than the typical €60 price point we’re used to seeing, drawing interest and a bit of speculation from the gaming community. Excitingly, one of the standout titles possibly lined up for the launch is a sequel to the beloved Super Mario Galaxy 2.
This speculation about the Nintendo Switch 2 started circulating in earnest back in late 2024, spurred by buzz around its potential mass production kickoff in September or October of that year. Most of the leaks and rumors we’ve seen so far have focused heavily on the console’s hardware capabilities.
Switching to another intriguing tidbit, a rumor making the rounds on a bustling Discord server dedicated to Nintendo Switch 2 discussions caught our eye. A user, known as DoNotDisturb, mentioned that sources at French retailer Micromania are pointing to a €399 price tag for the console in Europe—pretty much in line with other report predictions floating around.
When it comes to games, DoNotDisturb shared that Micromania might already have a list of those 25 launch titles, with prices rumored to hover between €69 and €79. This price point, while higher, raises eyebrows because Nintendo has generally held its AAA titles at $60 / €60, with only a few exceptions like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Charging €79 would edge into the territory typically occupied by new AAA PS5 games in the region, but based on current pricing, Micromania hasn’t been known to crank up prices unnecessarily, so maybe this could vary for Switch 2.
Even if there’s truth to these claims, it’s not clear if Micromania’s supposed list of launch games is entirely comprehensive. Adding to the mix of rumors, there’s chatter that Nintendo Switch Online prices might see an increase with the Switch 2 debut, although Nintendo hasn’t officially commented on any pricing changes, despite confirming NSO support for the new console.
Lastly, the tantalizing prospect of Super Mario Galaxy 3 being among the launch titles for Switch 2 has gamers on the edge of their seats. DoNotDisturb also hinted that pre-orders for the console could kick off soon, a reasonable assumption given Nintendo’s deadline to announce the Switch 2 by the end of March. All signs suggest we won’t have to wait too much longer to start booking our orders.
