Nintendo has officially pulled back the curtain on the Nintendo Switch 2, setting its release for 2025, and doing so in a rather understated fashion. A new trailer has been released, so take a look and see if it aligns with your expectations.
There’s not much in the video that hasn’t already been making rounds on social media. We see a few highlights — like the device’s larger size and an improved stand. Plus, there’s a heavy focus on Joy-Con connectivity. It feels as if Nintendo is telling everyone who’s been speculating, "You guys can have the dull details; we’re holding onto the juicy stuff for April."
Mark your calendars for April 2nd, because that’s when Nintendo will host a Nintendo Direct centered on the Switch 2. Right after that, they’ll kick off a series of hands-on events, the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience, across various locations on the following dates:

So, what games can we look forward to at these events? Based on the trailer, a new installment of Mario Kart is on the agenda. In order to participate in a Nintendo Switch 2 Experience, you’ll need a Nintendo Account. Ticket registration will begin soon, so keep an eye out for more details.
Another significant reveal is that the Nintendo Switch 2 will play both its exclusive titles and the existing Nintendo Switch games, whether they’re physical or digital. However, some of the older games might not be fully compatible with the new system — more details on this are expected later.
