February 2025 wasn’t expected to be a blockbuster month for video game launches, especially since one anticipated release got postponed. But, lo and behold, there’s a fresh contender in town that might just clutch your attention—Keep Driving, the unique driving RPG that blends turn-based battles with road trip escapades.
If you haven’t yet dipped your toes into this delightfully quaint game, let me fill you in. I took its demo for a ride during the Steam Next Fest last year and, hilariously enough, only managed to be outwitted by a puddle once. The whole premise revolves around embarking on a road trip to your friend’s house, where you and your trusty ride must tackle various roadblocks—quite literally. From car maintenance to the quintessential human needs of food and rest, the journey is anything but ordinary.
Drumroll, please—the official release of Keep Driving is set for February 6 on PC via Steam, according to a cheerful tweet from the Swedish creators, YCJY Games.
To ramp up the excitement, a fresh trailer has dropped, showcasing snippets of turn-based vehicular tussles against tractors, sheep, and pesky potholes. Plus, a sneak peek at a couple of additional cars you can load up with essentials for you, your car, and any hitchhikers you might scoop up on your journey. During the demo, I fancied the not-quite-Volvo, but the allure of tearing up the track in a pickup truck is tickling my inner Johnny Cash fan like nothing else.
YCJY Games enthusiastically shared on Twitter:
“Keep Driving has a RELEASE DATE! 🚗🎉 Our management RPG about life on the open road launches on February 6 on Steam for PC (Windows). Check out the new trailer 🔽 Sound on!”
For now, Keep Driving is a PC-exclusive, yet one of the developers did tip their hat in a reply, hinting at a future console release. They’re admittedly uncertain about the specifics, except for a potential Switch launch. Fingers crossed for that PS2 port, so I can dive effortlessly between this and a nostalgic round of Need For Speed Underground.
Until then, I’m eagerly anticipating the full version of Keep Driving, hoping it reinvigorates those feel-good vibes that made the demo thoroughly enjoyable from the outset.
