When Sony started bringing its exclusive games to the PC, gamers were thrilled. However, that initial excitement dwindled when it became clear that a PlayStation Network (PSN) account was mandatory to play these titles. Recently, there’s been a positive shift: now, Sony has announced that you no longer need a PSN account to dive into a selection of their PC-port games.
In a detailed update on the PS Blog, Asad Qizilbash from PlayStation shared some insights about fresh in-game bonuses for four PlayStation titles on PC: God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. Although PSN accounts will soon become optional for these games, anyone eager to grab the latest in-game bonuses or collect trophies will still need to have an account.
“Starting with tomorrow’s release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PC, we’re rolling out extra goodies for those with a PlayStation Network account,” Qizilbash explained. “The Last of Us Part II Remastered, slated for an April 3, 2025 release, God of War Ragnarök, and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will all join in offering exclusive in-game content for PSN account holders.”
Qizilbash also noted, “While having a PlayStation Network account will be optional for these PC titles, those who decide to use it will find additional perks like trophies and managing friends.”
This development is sure to please PlayStation’s PC audience, especially given the backlash since Helldivers 2 dropped last year. With this change, players who prefer not to create an additional account aren’t forced to, despite missing out on a few extras.
For gamers open to registering for a PSN account, here’s a rundown of the in-game perks you can enjoy for the PlayStation games on PC:
-
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Early unlock for two suits – the Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit and the Miles Morales 2099 Suit.
-
God of War Ragnarok: Early access to Kratos’ Armor of the Black Bear set, available at the first Lost Items chest in the Realm Between Realms, and a bundle with 500 Hacksilver and 250 XP (previously only available in New Game+).
