Elden Ring’s seamless co-op mod, created by the talented modder Yui, is a favorite among fans, and now they’re turning their attention to Dark Souls 3.
FromSoftware certainly has a distinctive approach to online multiplayer in their games. It’s aimed at making their notoriously challenging titles a tad easier—because if there’s anything better than a lone protagonist nimbly dodge-rolling to victory, it’s two of them doing it in tandem. However, teaming up with friends can sometimes feel like a bit of a chore. This is where Yui steps in, the modder who’s gained fame for their seamless co-op mod for Elden Ring and also crafted one for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. Yui has just announced they’re working on a seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls 3.
Yui recently shared a clip of the mod in action, playing through Lothric Castle with a friend (so watch out for spoilers if Dark Souls 3 is still on your to-play list). The video’s description gives an enticing overview of the mod: “It removes all multiplayer boundaries, allowing connections to remain after death. You can embark on the journey with friends from start to finish, enjoying synchronized progress without resummoning or disruptions. Invasions are optional and on by default, with customizable enemy multiplayer scaling to suit your preferences.” Exactly the kind of seamless experience you’d hope for!
For those eager to get their hands on this mod, there’s no release date just yet, so patience is key. On the bright side, a new Elden Ring installment, Nightreign, is on the horizon for release this year. It boasts built-in seamless co-op, though it leans heavily on its replayability as a boss-focused roguelite.
