Oh dear, Helldivers 2 has unleashed the chaos of the Meridia black hole, which has finally claimed the doomed planet Angel’s Venture. This once vibrant world has met its explosive end, eliciting a mourning period as declared by Arrowhead for the unfortunate citizens.
Angel’s Venture had been living on borrowed time, with evacuation orders already issued. And as predicted, the massive dark void on its path toward Super Earth decided it was time to wipe this world off the cosmic map in one spectacular event.
“Angel’s Venture has been torn apart by the Meridian Singularity,” Arrowhead announced in a tweet, keeping those who missed the explosive grand finale in the loop. The message continued, “The Illuminate, those sneaky folks who pretend to be so sophisticated and intelligent, have finally shown their true colors: chaos and destruction.” In response, the President of Super Earth declared a galaxy-wide day of mourning, effectively hitting the pause button for 24 hours of remembrance.
Even though the spectacle was strangely mesmerizing, it’s a somber moment for helldivers everywhere. Reddit user ‘DickBallsley’ became somewhat of an overnight spokesperson for the community, famously declaring in a recent forum, “Y’all acting as if I would let that happen,” when discussing the potential for saving Angel’s Venture. Sadly, the attempt fell short, and they’ve since posted an apology: “I’m sorry everyone, I might have overdone it. Going all out was not the best idea,” they admitted, adding a light-hearted promise, “Next time I’ll read what it says on the packet, this one’s on me.” Of course, fellow divers couldn’t resist, responding with the classic Obi-Wan Kenobi GIF proclaiming ‘You were the chosen one.’
While the universe takes a moment to mourn, the real fight gears up. The Meridia black hole is now targeting Super Earth, with several other planets on its path potentially facing the same fate. It’s safe to bet the next mission will focus on trying to stop, or at least slow down, the menace by fending off further attacks from the Illuminate. Our fingers are crossed that this round will prove more successful than the last escapade.
