Nintendo has pointed out that having exclusive titles ready will be essential when the Nintendo Switch 2 is introduced to the market.
These remarks came as a response to a shareholder’s inquiry about whether new games for the current Nintendo Switch would still be released once its successor is available in stores.
“So far, we’ve revealed Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond as upcoming titles for the Nintendo Switch, slated for a 2025 release. Since many people are actively playing on the Nintendo Switch, if we can create captivating software, we intend to keep launching new games,” said Shuntaro Furukawa, the president of Nintendo, while addressing the question.
“However, when it comes to new hardware, exclusive games are essential. Keeping that in mind, we will explore a variety of ways to appeal to both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 users, encouraging a broader audience to enjoy our offerings.”
For more details on the new console, tune in to the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation. It’s set to go live at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET / 2 PM BST / 3 PM CEST on Wednesday, April 2.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to launch globally in 2025, though the exact release date has not been announced yet.
