Looks like we’re in for a nostalgic trip this summer! Activision has finally pulled back the curtain on the remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, and it’s set to hit shelves on July 11. If you’ve been following the teasers, you know they’ve been building up to this moment with hints in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Grind map and discounts on the first two Pro Skater remakes. Originally launched in 2001 and 2002, these games have long been on the wish list for fans wanting to see them revamped for modern platforms.
The resurgence of Tony Hawk’s games kicked off beautifully with the 2020 release of the Pro Skater 1 + 2 remakes. They were met with high praise and a notable 89 score on OpenCritic, not to mention the buzz around their killer retro soundtracks. However, things took a twist when Vicarious Visions, the studio behind the first remakes, merged with Blizzard Entertainment in 2022. This shift left fans wondering if the 3 + 4 versions would ever go beyond dreams. Thankfully, their wait is over, courtesy of the development efforts now resting in the hands of Iron Galaxy Studios.
Activision made the big announcement with a thrilling, fast-paced trailer, offering glimpses of the various locations that’ll be ripe for grinding and tricks. From sprawling airports to medieval water parks, there’s plenty for players to dive into. This sequel effort comes straight out of Iron Galaxy, who had a role in supporting the earlier remakes.
For those eager to jump in early, pre-ordering the digital deluxe edition will let you start skating three days ahead on July 8. Plus, you’ll get your hands on awesome Doom crossover content, featuring the iconic Doom Slayer and Revenant Skaters, along with the Unmaykr hoverboard and themed music and gear. Both this edition and the standard version will unlock access to the Foundry Demo. Though the exact release for the demo is still under wraps, it promises a taste with two playable skaters, two parks, and a sneak peek at the soundtrack.
As the release date approaches, those itching to hit the digital skate parks can look forward to new insights and sneak peeks across Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Activision’s channels. Make sure to stay tuned for updates, particularly on when you can start exploring the Foundry Demo. Whether you’re on Xbox, PlayStation, PC, or Nintendo Switch, get ready to relive a piece of gaming history on July 11. The excitement’s building, and it looks like we’re in for a great ride!
