Virtuix is making waves with the launch of its new tourism app for the Omni One VR treadmill system. This app promises a truly immersive experience, allowing users to stroll through some of the world’s most iconic spots without leaving the comfort of their homes.
Set for release on March 6th, TREKS is designed to synchronize immersive video with real-world walking. This innovative app will transport users to breathtaking destinations such as the Grand Canyon, New York’s Central Park, and the historical halls of Riyadh’s Fort Masmak.
Developed by Virtuix Studios, the app will be sold exclusively through the Omni One Game Store, carrying a price tag of $30. At the outset, TREKS will offer four major locations:
- Grand Canyon: Take a leisurely walk along the trails and enjoy the awe-inspiring views of this natural masterpiece.
- Niagara Falls: Feel the raw power of the falls as you explore them from both the American and Canadian perspectives.
- New York City: Discover legendary sites including the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
- Saudi Arabia: Immerse yourself in the rich history of Fort Masmak and admire the magnificent Al Rajhi Mosque.
Virtuix Studios is also planning to expand the TREKS experience with additional locations in the form of DLC in the coming months. This will likely feature new landmarks, historical sites, and captivating natural wonders. Impressively, the company notes that an hour spent walking in TREKS can burn up to 500 calories.
"With TREKS, you’re not just seeing these places—you’re really moving through them," shared Jan Goetgeluk, CEO of Virtuix. "It’s a fantastic way to stay active while exploring some of the world’s most famous destinations. Fitness and adventure intertwine beautifully, and TREKS embodies this fusion like never before."
The Omni One system comes with a price point of $3,495. It includes not only the advanced VR treadmill but also a customized Pico 4 Enterprise headset. This setup allows for seamless access to native apps through its internal chipset and also offers the flexibility of tethered VR experiences, whether wired or wireless, to a VR-ready PC.
In a recent update, the Omni One system now supports over 55 titles. This includes exciting additions such as Arizona Sunshine Remake, Arizona Sunshine 2, and Into The Radius. Furthermore, the all-in-one system is compatible with SteamVR games. Thanks to the Omni Connect PC Driver, users can configure custom controls and fine-tune settings for games that aren’t specifically tailored for immersive walking experiences.
