Acer has just rolled out an impressive lineup of six graphics cards under the Radeon RX 9070 banner, including new base and overclocked (OC) models, showcasing boost clocks reaching up to 3.1 GHz.
In a move that’s generating a buzz in the gaming community, Acer has introduced its latest RDNA 4 GPUs, featuring the fresh BiFrost and Nitro series. While Acer has been crafting AMD cards for some time, its presence has been relatively understated compared to other major AMD partners. However, with this release, it is making a bold statement by launching six distinct variants, evenly split between the BiFrost and Nitro families.
The collection consists of two Nitro models for both the Radeon RX 9070 XT and the standard Radeon RX 9070, alongside a BiFrost variant for each. The BiFrost design is all about superior aesthetics and an advanced cooling system, while the Nitro models target a broader audience with specifications that still pack a punch.
Let’s dive into the details, kicking off with the BiFrost versions. The Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB promises a standout cooling solution featuring three fans encased in a sleek shroud highlighted with silvery accents around the central fan. It incorporates Acer’s FrostBlade 4.0 ringed fans and a counter-spin setup aimed at optimizing heat dissipation. Measuring about 295 mm in length and spanning 2.5 slots, this factory-overclocked model is tuned up to 3.1 GHz, making it a potent performer for gamers seeking high-end experiences.
The Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB closely mimics this design but notably employs two 8-pin power connectors, contrasting the three found on the XT variant. Interestingly, both cards share a 340W power rating, although the RX 9070 typically demands considerably less power. This dual 8-pin configuration, alongside a PCI-E x16 slot, efficiently delivers the required 340W, yet it doesn’t offer the same overclocking headroom as its XT sibling.
Moving from BiFrost to Nitro, Acer introduces both non-OC and OC iterations within this series for each card in the RX 9070 lineup. The Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC stands out with its triple-fan construction, matching the 3.1 GHz boost clock, and maintains the same 2.5-slot width and length as the BiFrost edition. Powered by three 8-pin connectors, its thermal design power (TDP) is also set at 340W. Meanwhile, the non-OC Nitro RX 9070 XT model sits at a more modest 304W yet retains the triple 8-pin setup, with a boost clock reaching up to 2970 MHz and a game mode clock of up to 2.4 GHz.
Shifting focus to the last pair in the range, we have the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and RX 9070 16 GB models. These boast clock speeds of up to 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz, respectively. The OC version’s power consumption is rated at 245W, while the non-OC model draws 220W, both sporting a uniform design.
As for pricing, Acer has lifted the curtain on the cost of some models, setting the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB at an eye-catching $829.99. Nevertheless, expect the high-end BiFrost model to command an even steeper price. While the company hasn’t disclosed pricing for the entire range or when all models will hit the shelves, they have confirmed the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC’s availability in the U.S. this coming April.
