Last Thursday, orders for the Bigscreen Beyond 2 came pouring in at an unexpectedly fast rate. The manufacturer of this PC VR headset recently shared that the new model outdid the original within just one day by a staggering amount. In fact, the sales on its first day were equivalent to what the Beyond 1 achieved in half a year.
Bigscreen released some astonishing stats following the launch of Beyond 2. Remarkably, in just 25 minutes, Beyond 2 surpassed the entire first day of sales for Beyond 1. Within the first hour, it had doubled what the original achieved on its debut. By the 10-hour mark, Beyond 2 had already sold more units than the first four months of Beyond 1 sales.
Founder and CEO of Bigscreen, Darshan Shankar, shared the most eye-catching figure in a post on X last Friday: “In the first 24 hours, Beyond 2 has sold 10 TIMES as many Beyond 1s sold on its launch day 2 years ago. In the first 24 hours, Beyond 2 has sold as much as Beyond 1 did in its first 6 months of sales. That’s exceptional.”
Interestingly, Shankar pointed out that this surge in sales was achieved without spending on advertising. He emphasized, “[w]e didn’t pay influencers to pump our product. We didn’t pay an agency for an expensive video. No advertising.”
However, they did allocate a few early units of Beyond 2 to select reviewers, which Shankar mentioned was “about 10 units,” sent to notable individuals and groups such as Tested, Thrillseeker, MRTV, and VR Flight Sim Guy.
In case you haven’t caught up on the latest, Beyond 2 is available in two versions: one featuring eye-tracking (Beyond 2e) and another without it (Beyond 2), priced at $1,019 and $1,219 respectively. While it still features the same dual 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays as the original, it boasts significant enhancements. Chief among these is the expanded field-of-view (FOV) and enhanced clarity, thanks to a new pancake lens design. This upgrade increases the FOV to a 116-degree diagonal, compared to the original’s 102-degree, and includes an improved adjustable IPD mechanism, all in a lightweight 107g headset.
Though the initial batches were set to ship in April for Beyond 2 and May for Beyond 2e, as of now, new orders for Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e are anticipated to ship in June.
