Glover is making its way to the Nintendo Switch, brought to you by Interactive Studios, Piko Interactive, and QUByte Interactive. If you’re curious about this quirky game, have a look at our Glover review to see what the fuss is about!
Originally crafted by Interactive Studios—once known as Dizzy Entertainment and later rebranded as Blitz Games—this company was started back in 1990 by the Oliver Twins, Andrew Nicholas Oliver and Philip Edward Oliver. They’re the brains behind the beloved Dizzy series. In Glover, you step into the shoes—or rather glove—of Glover, navigating a series of 3D puzzle-platforming levels. Your mission? Guide your magical ball from start to finish.
Glover hit the shelves in 1998, initially released for the Nintendo 64 through Hasbro Interactive and then the following year on PlayStation courtesy of Atari Interactive. Fast forward to 2025, and this classic is being resurrected on the Nintendo Switch thanks to the QUByte Classic series by QUByte Interactive. Ready to revisit the fantastical Crystal Kingdom?
As you embark on this adventure, you’ll track down the missing crystals vital to the Kingdom’s well-being. A wizard’s blunder during a potion mix-up inadvertently blasts the crystals away, taking Glover along for the ride. Using quick thinking, Glover turns the scattered crystals into bouncy rubber balls, preventing them from breaking. Glover is one of the wizard’s enchanted gloves, and its twin, Glovel, got caught up in the mishap, falling into a magical cauldron. As expected, this twist of fate corrupts Glovel, transforming it into the villainous Cross-Stitch.
In your quest to retrieve the lost crystals, you’ll tackle six distinct worlds: Atlantis, Carnival, Pirates, Prehistoric, Fortress of Fear, and Out of This World. For the completionists out there, achieving 100% game progress means conquering every level of each world, gathering all the collectible Garibs, and conquering six bonus stages—one for each world.
When you dive in to play, controlling Glover is pretty straightforward. Move him with the left analog stick and adjust your view with the right stick. Use the X button to zoom the camera, the A button to jump or double jump, and the B button for dribbling the ball. Perform a ground pound by jumping and pressing the ZR button, and stand atop the ball by hitting the L button. To grab and throw your ball, hold down the B button, or aim for a longer throw with the A button. Switch the ball’s form using the R button. The standard rubber ball will be your primary tool, but there are other ball types to discover as you play!
Glover originally launched back in the day with Hasbro Interactive for the Nintendo 64 and later hit the PlayStation under Atari Interactive.
