In light of the current economic challenges, which include rising inflation and unpredictable exchange rates, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has decided it’s necessary to adjust the suggested retail price of the PlayStation 5 in certain regions within Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), as well as in Australia and New Zealand.
Starting April 14, the new pricing for the PS5 will be as follows:
Europe: The PS5 Digital Edition will now cost €499.99. It’s important to note that there won’t be any change in price for the standard PS5 equipped with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive.
UK: The PS5 Digital Edition is set at £429.99, with no changes to the standard PS5’s price with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive.
Australia: For the standard PS5 with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive, the price will be AUD $829.95, while the PS5 Digital Edition is priced at AUD $749.95.
New Zealand: The pricing is set at NZD $949.95 for the standard PS5 with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and NZD $859.95 for the PS5 Digital Edition.
The price for the PS5 Pro will stay consistent with no plans for adjustment.
Alongside these updates, the cost of the Disc Drive for the PS5 is being reduced as of April 14, with the following new prices:
Europe: €79.99
UK: £69.99
Australia: AUD $124.95
New Zealand: NZD $139.95
It’s also worth mentioning that some other markets in the EMEA region not specifically mentioned above might also see price increases. For the most accurate information, it’s recommended to check with your local retailer or visit direct.playstation.com if available in your area.
