Minisforum recently unveiled its upcoming line of products, featuring the cutting-edge AMD Ryzen processors. Among these are a MoTD (Mobile on Desktop) motherboard and a Mini PC, both powered by the Ryzen 9 9955HX “Fire Range” CPU.
At the “Japan IT Spring Week,” Minisforum presented a slew of its next-gen devices utilizing AMD Ryzen technology. Their array of products includes Mobile on Desktop motherboards, Mini PCs, and NAS systems.
Starting with the Minisforum F1FGM MoTD motherboard, this latest addition is equipped with the Ryzen 9 9955HX “Fire Range” CPU. Designed in a mATX form, it boasts robust heatsinks on the VRMs, M.2 slots, PCH, and even an IO cover. Building on the legacy of the BD770i and BD790i, which ran on the Dragon Range “Ryzen 7000HX,” this model steps up to feature the Fire Range “Ryzen 9000HX” series CPUs.
The MoTD can be configured with the Ryzen 9 9955HX processor, offering 16 cores and 32 threads, thanks to the Zen 5 architecture. This powerful chip reaches boost speeds of up to 5.4 GHz and comes with 64 MB of L3 cache. While it typically operates at 55W, users can tune it up to an impressive 160W on this motherboard, ensuring peak performance.
Additionally, the F1FGM supports various CPUs, including an “X3D” variant. For cooling, a vapor chamber baseplate is used due to the mobile nature of these CPUs, which lack an integrated heat spreader. The motherboard’s 13-Phase Duet rail VRM is designed with 60A SPS power stages.
Moving on to specs, the board accommodates four DDR5 DIMM slots, capable of supporting up to 256 GB of memory at speeds reaching 8000 MT/s. The chipset, identified as X870M, is optimized for mobile use yet closely resembles the B850 series. Two PCIe slots (5.0 x16 & 4.0 x16) and three M.2 slots (including a Gen5x4 speed slot) are also part of the package, alongside two SATA III ports and modern connectivity options such as USB4, 5GbE LAN, and WIFI7. Plus, there’s a pair of BIOS DEBUG LEDs for troubleshooting.
In the realm of compact computing, Minisforum introduces the MS-A2 Mini PC, equipped with the AMD Ryzen 9000HX “Fire Range” CPUs. This model builds upon the MS-A1 series, previously known for utilizing Ryzen 8000G CPUs. The MS-A2 offers advanced IO, with three M.2 slots (one adaptable to U.2), 10 GbE LAN via an SFP+ port, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot for low-profile cards.
Diverging from the MoTD, the Mini PC’s motherboard offers two SO-DIMM slots, supporting up to 96 GB and speeds of 5200 MT/s. Connectivity includes 2 USB 3.2 Gen Type-C, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2, one USB 2.0, two 10 GbE LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, plus both DP and HDMI outputs.
Finally, Minisforum is introducing the N5 PRO NAS system, powered by the Strix version of the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU. This unit packs 12 cores and 24 threads, with an integrated Radeon 890M graphics unit. Configured with up to five 3.5-inch bays, the NAS supports RAID configurations, and its toolless design allows easy drive management. Also supporting up to 48 GB of DDR5 via SO-DIMMs and featuring a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for video interface, each bay can accommodate up to 22 TB of HDD space, along with three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots. Network-wise, it includes one 10 GbE Ethernet port, and one 5 GbE port, along with three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports for added functionality.
These products are set to hit the market in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled for the official launch.
