Take the King’s League in Europe, for example, where item-based elements add a dynamic layer to soccer. Chang Xin saw that even a highly fair sport like soccer benefits from a touch of randomness, hinting at an overlooked market.
This mirrors the competitive FPS genre, which often prioritizes balance and tactics, leading to repetitive gameplay. Chang Xin noticed the lack of suspense in traditional FPS designs, where stronger players usually dominate. FragPunk’s Shard Cards are crafted to shake things up, offering players of all skill levels new tactical choices and strategic depth.

It’s the same map, but enemies are simply out of sight, achieving a “two-worlds” effect.

There were worries that the cards might affect the game’s competitive balance. However, the main goal is to add suspense and broaden gameplay tactics, ultimately enriching the FPS experience. Core shooting skills remain crucial, but the cards introduce unexpected opportunities.
