NVIDIA and AMD are gearing up for a big May showdown as they prepare to launch their wallet-friendly GPUs, aiming to grab a slice of the mainstream market.
## NVIDIA & AMD Ready to Rule the Mid-Range GPU Market with RTX 5060 & RX 9060 XT
Right now, gamers looking for budget to mid-tier GPUs don’t have too many options. The latest releases, especially from NVIDIA, are hard to come by, pushing prices way above the recommended levels. AMD is experiencing the same issue with their RX 9070 series—demand is high, and finding them at the suggested retail price is rare. But there’s a glimmer of hope as reports from Benchlife suggest that both companies are rolling out new products soon, possibly as early as next month.
Starting with NVIDIA, they’re said to be launching the GeForce RTX 5060 on May 19. This GPU is expected to come with 8 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, clocked at 28 Gbps on a 128-bit memory bus. However, it’s worth noting that power consumption is on the rise, with a 35W TDP increase over the RTX 4060. Here’s what the RTX 5060 brings to the table compared to the previous generation:
– 25% more CUDA Cores
– Same memory capacity
– Faster GDDR7 Memory (28 Gbps?)
– Increased bandwidth (+64%)
– 30% higher power requirement
On the AMD side, the Radeon RX 9060 XT is generating buzz, with its debut set for May 21 at Computex, although actual sales might start in June. Built with the Navi 44 die on a 128-bit interface, it will be available in both 8GB and 16GB options, resembling NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti. This GPU will feature 2,048 Stream Processors—half of what the RX 9070 XT offers—with game clocks at 2620 MHz and boost clocks reaching 3230 MHz. It’s shaping up to be a strong contender for those focused on 1080p to 2K gaming.
We’ll be reporting live from the Computex 2025 show floor, providing the latest updates and early impressions as NVIDIA and AMD make their moves. The race in the mid-range GPU market is heating up, and May is looking to be a pivotal month.
