Apologies Canada, Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders Postponed to Align with Undetermined US Conditions

It seems Canadian gamers eager to pre-order the Nintendo Switch are facing a bit of a delay. Originally set for April 9, these pre-orders will now be postponed, as Nintendo Canada informed MobileSyrup.

In a statement received by MobileSyrup, Nintendo of Canada noted, “Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in Canada will not commence on April 9, 2025, to synchronize with the scheduling of U.S. pre-orders. Nintendo will provide updated information at a later date. The launch date on June 5, 2025, remains unchanged.”

This news follows last Friday’s announcement affecting American Nintendo enthusiasts. The reason? Nintendo explained that it needed time to “assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions.” The mentioned tariffs are those imposed by the U.S. on nations such as China and Vietnam, crucial here since the Switch 2’s production is based in these countries.

With trade tensions between the U.S. and China on the rise, these tariffs are likely to drive up the Nintendo Switch 2 price in the U.S. However, the reason for Canada’s delay isn’t immediately clear.
