Today, Bungie has given us an exciting glimpse into their upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon. They’ve finally showcased some real gameplay, which has certainly caught our attention. Mark your calendars, as Marathon is set for a release on the Xbox Series X and Series S on September 23rd, 2025.
In this game, you’ll assume the role of a Runner—described as cybernetic mercenaries each with distinct abilities. Teaming up with two other players, your mission is to navigate through battles against hostile AI security forces and rival Runner teams. As you progress, you’ll collect an array of weapons, implants, and equipment. Any successful run allows you to secure your loot for subsequent adventures.
For those who are up for the challenge, you can also tackle the zone on your own. This means going solo against other teams and AI threats, with the aim of extracting with as much loot as possible. The game promises thrilling encounters and strategic gameplay choices that will test your survival instincts.
