In an unexpected twist from the gaming world, The Molasses Flood, a development team based in Boston, has seamlessly integrated with the renowned Polish gaming company, CD Projekt Red.
This merger was announced through a statement on The Molasses Flood’s website, confirming that as of April 1st, the team no longer operates as an independent studio but has instead become part of the powerhouse behind Cyberpunk 2077. It’s important to note that this change won’t impact their previous creations, such as The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow, which were developed prior to the studio’s acquisition by CD Projekt Red in 2021. The team is currently channeling its efforts into Project Sirius, an exciting multiplayer endeavor set against the rich backdrop of The Witcher universe.
In related news, Damian Isla, the founder of The Molasses Flood, has made the decision to depart from the studio.
Reflecting on this transition, Isla shared his thoughts on LinkedIn, saying, “This marks a significant change in my journey. The Molasses Flood has been a pivotal part of my life for over a decade. I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished, especially in a market that often presents considerable challenges to small teams like ours. We’ve crafted some truly unique and memorable experiences, and I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with some of the industry’s most talented, kind, and generous people.”
