Emerging fiercely from the mythical lands of Cimmeria, the legendary Conan the Barbarian is set to unleash his might in Mortal Kombat 1 later this month, adding to the thrilling lineup of the Khaos Reigns expansion.
Fans of the 1982 classic film will recognize Conan’s appearance, inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger’s iconic portrayal. While Arnold’s likeness brings authenticity to the character, voice actor Chris Cox masterfully channels the unmistakable Austrian accent that made the governator famous, reminiscent of his work as the Terminator in Mortal Kombat 11.
Conan’s introduction showcases some of the best animation seen in the modern era of Mortal Kombat. Expect swordplay that’s unusually graceful for the series, accompanied by clever nods to the past. Keep an eye out for Conan teaming up with a red Sonya and performing an Animality that sees him transform into a Cimmerian bull, a nod to Robert E. Howard’s early tales where Conan boasts of strangling such a beast in his youth.
Early access to Conan begins on January 21 for those who’ve purchased the full Khaos Reigns expansion, with general availability on January 28. Conan joins an intriguing mix of guest characters in Mortal Kombat 1, following in the footsteps of Invincible’s Omni-Man, Peacemaker from DC Comics, Homelander from The Boys, and Ghostface from Scream. Fans can also look forward to the eventual addition of Terminator 2’s formidable T-1000, further expanding the exciting roster of fighters.
