A creative Pokemon fan has reimagined Crustle by combining elements of a familiar RPG foe with a known Pokemon variant. This intriguing redesign might be both fascinating and terrifying to encounter within the Pokemon universe.
Over the years, Pokemon has evolved significantly, not just by introducing new species but also by adding numerous forms and evolutions. Temporary transformations like Gigantamax, Mega Evolutions, and Terastallization are just a few examples. Some Pokemon, however, have acquired entirely different forms, resulting in various species variations, like Gimmighoul’s transformation.
Recently, artist Matratzfratz took inspiration from Gimmighoul’s design to reimagine Crustle. In this redesign, Crustle takes on a new Chest Form, with its rocky back morphing into a treasure chest. Unlike Gimmighoul’s gold-filled chest, Crustle’s box appears as a rugged, pirate-themed treasure trove, with claws resembling hook-like pincers. The artist also introduced a Hadal Form for its pre-evolution, Dwebble, reminiscent of an ancient diver’s helmet. This version of Crustle becomes a Bug/Water type, with its chest luring in greedy divers only to gradually trap and digest them. This eerie concept aligns with the darker entries found in the Pokedex.
Enthusiastic Pokemon fans have responded positively to this creative design, offering feedback and suggestions. One fan suggested that the sea-dwelling Crustle need not be limited to a Water-type, proposing a Bug/Grass-type instead. Another noted its resemblance to a Mimic, a classic RPG enemy that disguises itself as a treasure chest and ambushes unsuspecting players. The thought of encountering a Mimic-like creature underwater adds an extra layer of terror.
In the world of official Pokemon titles, introducing new forms keeps the vast array of existing Pokemon captivating and opens up fresh strategy possibilities in battles. For the foreseeable future, many players might focus on battle strategies involving Mega Evolutions, with existing ones returning and new ones being introduced in upcoming games like Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
