Today’s gaming news spotlight is firmly on EA Sports FC 25, as they launch a brand-new update on January 16 and unveil this year’s Team of the Year squads. It seems like it’s the only buzzworthy moment in the gaming world right now!
If you managed to cast your votes for this year’s Ultimate Team (UT) Teams of the Year last week, you might just see your favorite players highlighted. EA has given everyone a good reason to jump back into FC 25.
The finalized TOTY had one squad for the men and one for the women, maintaining this now-standard practice. Graphics shared in the tweets below run through each selected player, so there’s no need for me to list them all here. You can check the graphics if you’re curious about who made the cut.
These coveted cards come into play starting January 17, with attackers leading the charge. Midfielders will follow suit on January 19, and both defenders and goalkeepers will join them on January 21. The full TOTY lineup will be available in the Ultimate Team pool from January 23 to January 31, and a 12th man and woman will appear on January 24 to round out the selection.
Additionally, EA has delivered a pivotal gameplay update for FC 25. This “gameplay refresh,” as the developers describe it, is hailed as their “most significant mid-season gameplay overhaul ever,” with changes directly shaped by player feedback.
Among the major tweaks are improvements to critical gameplay systems like passing, shooting, goalkeeper maneuvers, and defense. They’ve tackled issues such as defenders too frequently catching up to dribblers and have enhanced offensive fluidity for smoother ball movement. Plus, there are reduced occurrences of tacklebacks and AI interceptions.
