Eagerly waiting for something new to land in Pokemon TCG Pocket? Well, you’re in luck because a brand-new expansion is set to launch next week. It’s introducing a new booster pack that offers a shot at catching Mew!
Announced in a recent tweet from the game’s official handle, this upcoming expansion is called Mythical Island and is scheduled to drop on Tuesday, December 17. In a playful note, the TCG Pocket’s social media person mentioned, “I went to great lengths to bring you this scoop. (In reality, I just asked super politely and shed a few tears).”
If you check out the trailer below, you’ll see that this expansion brings a wealth of new cards. Among these, Mew, Aerodactyl, and Celebi are some of the standout Pokémon ex cards that you can find in the new Mythical Island booster pack. This is a fantastic chance for those who’ve had enough of packing countless Doduo (or Doduos, Dodui, what do you call a horde of them?).
The trailer unveils that “The Mythical Island expansion features over 80 cards, boasting five new exciting Pokémon ex cards, five fresh Trainer cards, and enchanting immersive cards that transport you right into the magical world of Pokémon.”
Additionally, you’ll find new binder and display board covers adorned with the Mythical Island scenery. It’s a great way to let your team of mythical creatures pretend they are on a little vacation—or at least dream of one. It feels like a natural touch in Pokemon’s quirky universe of imaginative zookeeping, which gets a bit dicey when you think about it too seriously.
Do the Pokemon actually enjoy being these seemingly eternal beings that end up battling in card arenas? Who knows? But considering The Pokemon Company has recently announced that TCG Pocket has surpassed 60 million downloads, I’m not one to complain too much. That’s a huge crowd, and it includes me, so it wouldn’t be wise to upset myself—that’s way too meta.
