Thought you could catch Star Wars Skeleton Crew on Disney Plus starting December 3? Well, think again! Disney has decided to switch things up a bit and has moved the premiere date.
In a surprise twist, Disney announced yesterday that you’ll be able to dive into the new addition to the Star Wars universe a day earlier, now set to hit your screens on December 2. It’s not the most dramatic change, but it’s one of those decisions only Disney could make sense of. As an added bonus, they’ll be kicking things off with a two-episode premiere, so if you’re hooked on the first episode, no long waits for you before you can jump into the second. Disney also dished out some info on who will be directing each of the show’s eight episodes, and you’ll likely spot some familiar names.
The series starts with Jon Watts, the mind behind the Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy, who will also be wrapping things up with the eighth episode. Episodes two and three are brought to life by David Lowery, a director with an interesting range, from last year’s lighter Peter Pan & Wendy to more serious films like The Green Knight and A Ghost Story. For episode four, Oscar winners The Daniels, who made waves with 2022’s Everything Everywhere All at Once, take the helm. Episode five is directed by Jake Schreier, who’s also working on the upcoming Marvel movie Thunderbolts.
Bryce Dallas Howard, known for her work on The Mandalorian, takes charge of episode six. Episode seven sees direction from Lee Isaac Chun, another familiar name from The Mandalorian, who has also worked on this year’s blockbuster Twisters.
The official synopsis of Skeleton Crew tells us about “the journey of four kids who stumble upon a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, only to find themselves lost in a strange and perilous galaxy. The quest to find their way back home, while crossing paths with unlikely friends and foes, promises to be an adventure beyond their wildest dreams.” Jude Law brings some star power to the series, and it seems like the show aims to capture the essence of a Spielberg-style adventure movie.
