Hey there, Sims fans! EA and Maxis have a delightful treat for those who cherish the classic Sims experience. As part of celebrating the series’ 25th anniversary, they’ve rolled out the re-releases of the first two Sims games, and guess what—they’re available starting today!
Rumors were swirling about EA planning to launch these digital versions for PC by the end of January. And they’ve delivered, wrapping it up on January 31, just as the week closes off. Talk about timing.
Available on platforms like EA app, Epic Games Store, and Steam, these re-releases are called The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection. You can snag them both together in the Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.
EA’s announcement struck a nostalgic chord, saying, “To celebrate our legacy and honor the incredible fans that have been with us along the way, we’re re-releasing two fan-favorite titles that contain familiar neighborhoods and beloved characters – such as the sneaky burglar, unpredictable genie, and Sunny the Tragic Clown – that started it all. Rediscover the nostalgia and magic of the classics that welcomed so many of you into our amazing community.”
When it comes to pricing, the bundle will set you back $39.99, while The Sims: Legacy Collection alone is priced at $19.99 and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection at $29.99. Each pack comes loaded with a bunch of original expansion packs, though fans might miss the IKEA Home Stuff pack from The Sims 2, which didn’t make the cut.
But it’s not all bad news. Along with The Sims 2, you do get two holiday packs and the H&M Fashion Stuff pack for that retail therapy fix. For an added bonus, The Sims 4’s Throwback Fit Kit and Grunge Revival Kit are included with these re-releases, the former with the first game and the latter with the second. It’s a nice little perk if you haven’t added those to your collection yet.
So, step away from the quirky “meme jacuzzi” on the Sims Y2K website that EA set up for these festivities, dry off those meme-infused giggles, and dive into these re-releases if you’re up for it. They’re bound to rekindle fond memories and bring you back to the good old Sims days!
