HOOP-O Studios, a budding indie team creating innovative mixed reality games, has just revealed some exciting news. Their newest project, a remote-controlled dogfighting game called Alex and the Jets, is set to launch on the Quest 3 platform next month.
This game brings an engaging casual arcade experience, where players step into the role of Alex the Squirrel. You’ll pilot a small, fixed-wing propeller plane, taking on a dynamic aerial challenge. Enemies from a gang known as ‘The Jets’ will suddenly appear through portals in your walls, forcing you to skillfully take them down while navigating through donut-shaped goals. These hoops offer weapon power-ups and health boosts to enhance your gameplay.
For those looking to enjoy a more laid-back experience, the game also features a free roam mode. This lets you fly around your room at your own pace, without any pressure. Plus, you can track your scores on local leaderboards, and there’s a store stocked with cosmetics to unlock new outfits for Alex, adding a personal touch to your character.
One aspect that stands out about Alex and the Jets is the realism shown in the trailer. The gameplay footage was all captured directly through the headset’s camera, which adds a layer of authenticity and builds confidence in the gaming community.
Although we don’t have a fixed release date yet, HOOP-O is aiming for an April launch on the Horizon Store, compatible with Quest 3 and the upgraded Quest 3S. Keep an eye out for this unique mix of action and fun coming soon!
