There’s no shortage of projects that try to mash up elements from one Fallout game into another, but here’s a fresh take you might not have expected—bringing the best of Fallout into The Sims 2. Meet The Sims 2: New Vegas, a fan-made “remaster” project that showcases what amazing things can happen when Fallout enthusiasts have some idle time on their hands.
This ambitious endeavor has its own dedicated subreddit, highlighted by TheGamer, where a creator named Baron Pulitzer, also known by the username FalloutPropMaster, shares updates. Interestingly, by day, Pulitzer runs an independent film production company. Over the past week, they’ve been detailing their project progress quite actively.
“I’ve grown tired of waiting for a remastered Fallout: New Vegas,” Pulitzer wrote in their initial post. “My dream is to see a remaster that lets us rediscover some of the cut content from the Fallout: New Vegas in-house Beta.”
Inspired by a few casino uploads on ModTheSims by a user named “lilipad,” the project aims to recreate New Vegas within The Sims 2. Although Pulitzer has previously modded Fallout 3 and New Vegas, this venture into The Sims is a new learning opportunity for them.
In just a week, they’ve revisited some classic programs like Milkshape, FOMM, Blender, and Nifscope. This not only brings a wave of nostalgia but also offers a fresh activity to delve into during free time.
So far, they’ve planned out where various buildings will sit in their Mojave Wasteland neighborhood, complete with The Strip and Freeside. Naturally, they began by recreating Goodsprings’ iconic Prospector Saloon.
They’ve also been developing characters. Vulpes Inculta, Legion’s infamous wolf hat enthusiast, can be seen hanging out with a couple of ghouls, even taking some time to kick a ball around. There’s also a household full of companions likely swapping tales about a certain postman who often treats them like human shields while frantically scrambling for stimpaks.
The latest update showcases a revamp of The Sims 2’s UI, giving it a classic Fallout vibe, which is quite impressive.
This project is definitely one to watch, especially if you’re enjoying a nostalgic dive back into The Sims 2 via the Legacy Collection remaster. And if you find yourself yearning for another Mojave adventure as a cannibal trying to munch on Mr. House, only to end up accidentally vilified while craving some Caesar salad, this will surely quench your thirst. Who knows, you might just end up going down the independent Vegas path because the NCR might give you strange looks otherwise!
