Stalker 2’s launch hasn’t been without its hiccups, with a handful of bugs making things a bit bumpy. However, relief is in sight as GSC Game World has promised a patch is on the horizon to tackle some of these issues.
This much-anticipated sequel finally made its debut earlier this week, but it came out of the gate with a few problems. While our own Connor was gracious in his review, acknowledging the game’s shortcomings, the reception has been mixed across the board. That said, it’s found a warm reception on Steam and modders have been quick to address some early stutter complaints. On a brighter note, official updates are in the works. According to the latest from the developers on Steam, that first post-launch patch is expected within the week.
A post from the team captures their excitement: “Having the game live for several days is still a bit surreal for us, and we’ve been keenly listening to your feedback in every form we’ve received it. To the more than one million stalkers exploring the Zone — your support means everything. We know you’ve got a lot going on in the game, and rest assured, so do we behind the scenes.” Though the post doesn’t delve into every single bug, it offers a promising glimpse into what the forthcoming patch aims to tackle.
Among the updates, players can expect fixes for issues causing crashes, particularly those triggered by memory allocation hiccups. They’ll also be tightening up the main quests to smooth out progress-blocking bugs, like NPCs getting inconveniently lodged in places they shouldn’t be or quest markers pointing you in the wrong direction. Expect tweaks in gameplay and balance too, including adjustments to NPC behaviors and weapon prices, plus some visual and cutscene enhancements.
An important heads-up was shared about issues that will demand a bit more patience from players. Some players have reported dead zones with analogue sticks, and concerns have been raised about the A-Life system, which hasn’t met all players’ expectations just yet. Unfortunately, there’s no specific timeline for these fixes, so fans will have to hang tight for a little while longer.
