This week’s update for Helldivers 2 might not have been the grand one some players were anticipating, but at least the latest mission comes with some serious Galactic War ramifications. If you’re tired of the ominous purple Meridian death ball wreaking havoc on planets, now’s your chance to put a stop to its destructive spree.
The devastation has already claimed three worlds—Moradesh, Angel’s Venture, and Ivis—leaving players either mourning or, for some die-hard divers, indifferent because they’re getting a bit tired of the ongoing death ball saga. It’s high time we stopped its march toward Super Earth.
Following a triumphant victory on Wezen, the divers managed to construct an Exosuit Support Bay on their Democracy Space Station. This handy addition has slashed the exosuit strategem cooldowns for everyone by a nifty 35%.
According to the latest directive, “Center of Science astrophysicists on Fenrir III are close to initiating the third and final phase of their plan to halt the Meridian Singularity,” it says. “However, advancing into the complex field of Dark Energy manipulation demands massive quantities of E-710 for experimentation.”
Following up on that, a recent tweet reads, “MAJOR ORDER: High Command has authorized a second limited expedition into the Gloom to advance our technology enough to finally stop the Meridian Wormhole.”
The initial scientific excursion into the Gloom was treacherous yet fruitful, providing a good supply of E-710. Now, High Command has greenlit a second, more limited mission, aiming to enhance our tech to finally shut down the Meridian Wormhole. Any surplus E-710 could potentially bolster trade, enhancing collective wellbeing.
But liberating Nivel 43 and requisitioning that E-710 to halt the death ball won’t be without danger. The divers will face those pesky “Gloom-specific terminid strains” they tackled in their last journey into the fog. Big, nasty bugs, you’ve been warned!
On a brighter note, players seem pretty pumped to dive back into the fog. “ANOTHER GLOOM EXPEDITION” is the buzz on the game’s subreddit, with a thread echoing the excitement of tackling more terminid mayhem. It seems players are eager for a break from skirmishes with automatons and illuminates. Enthusiasm is contagious, after all.
