Jar of Sparks, a game development studio nestled in Seattle, recently informed its team that it’s hitting the brakes on its inaugural project. This pause comes as the studio hunts for a new publishing partner to bring their vision to life.
The studio’s founder, Jerry Hook, shared this update on LinkedIn, expressing pride in the progress made thus far. Jar of Sparks burst onto the scene back in July 2024 with support from NetEase, a major player in the Chinese entertainment sector. However, it seems NetEase has pulled back from publishing the studio’s first venture.
Reflecting on the journey so far, Hook admired the team’s bold creativity and willingness to take risks. “Everyone here has been incredibly passionate and driven to push the boundaries and craft something truly unique in the gaming world,” he noted.
While the studio readies for its next phase, team members are exploring new avenues. “We’re exceptionally proud of what we’ve built together,” Hook added, encouraging anyone seeking top-notch developers who love to think outside the box to get in touch. He’s more than willing to connect industry professionals with the talented developers he’s worked alongside.
Interestingly, Jar of Sparks isn’t the only NetEase-supported team pausing their work recently. Just last November, Worlds Untold also announced a halt on their debut project.
