io9 is thrilled to unveil a fascinating new video shot on the set of the highly anticipated Borderlands video game adaptation. In collaboration with Light Sail VR, Roth captured amazing scenes featuring stars like Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, and Ariana Greenblatt. While the footage is tailored for virtual reality, it still delivers a compelling experience in good old 2D.
“When it comes to VR, I’m a big enthusiast and have been experimenting with a GoPro 360 since 2018,” Roth shared in a statement. “During the pandemic, set visits weren’t feasible, so I decided to provide fans with an immersive taste of what being on set was like as we brought the vivid world of Borderlands to life. You’ll get a unique look at the elaborate sets crafted by our talented art department in Budapest. You’ll see actors like Cate Blanchett and Ariana Greenblatt performing stunts a hundred feet up, navigating between racing vehicles. As always, working with my buddies at Light Sail VR was amazing, and together we created an experience that really puts you right in the heart of the action. You’ll totally feel the dynamic energy of being alongside us in the crazy world of Borderlands.”
