The original Arizona Sunshine game is set to stop supporting its online multiplayer features this coming July, owing to Unity’s decision to phase out the UNet Service.
Arizona Sunshine, a standout in the VR space since its debut in 2016, has been a staple for online multiplayer enthusiasts. Unfortunately, Vertigo Games, the developers behind the title, recently announced that due to Unity’s withdrawal of its UNet Service—the backbone of the game’s digital multiplayer capabilities—support will come to a halt on July 1, 2025.
For those not familiar, UNet was Unity Engine’s earlier system for multiplayer gaming, which Unity began to phase out in 2019. Recent announcements have confirmed that after July 7, 2025, developers will have no access to these services. This timeline helps explain Vertigo’s recent decision regarding Arizona Sunshine.
Thankfully, this change won’t impact the solo campaign of Arizona Sunshine. Moreover, the online multiplayer offerings in both the Arizona Sunshine Remake and Arizona Sunshine 2 will remain unaffected. In a move to cushion this transition, Vertigo continues to provide a $10 discount on the Arizona Sunshine Remake. This upgrade is available if you own the original game on Quest, PlayStation, or Steam on the same platform.
