Warner Bros, a significant player in the world of entertainment, has reportedly called off an expansion for the popular game, Hogwarts Legacy.
According to Bloomberg, this expansion was in the works and was supposed to debut alongside a planned Definitive Edition of the Harry Potter action RPG, which was expected to introduce new storylines. However, Warner Bros decided to scrap the project since the planned content wasn’t deemed substantial enough to justify the anticipated price tag. Both Avalanche Software, the original developers of Hogwarts Legacy, and Rocksteady were involved in creating this expansion. It seems Avalanche is also focused on crafting a sequel to the much-loved Harry Potter game.
In recent developments, Rocksteady faced some job cuts following their decision to halt support for the 2024 title, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
Last year, Warner Bros acknowledged a significant slump in its gaming sector, revealing it was “substantially underperforming.” Additionally, they took a financial hit from writing off $200 million due to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The company also recently shut down three of its studios, including Monolith, and saw the departure of its long-time executive, David Haddad.
