Today, longtime VR developer Fast Travel Games announced some exciting news: their upcoming VR shooter, Action Hero, which draws inspiration from the popular Superhot series, is launching on Quest next month.
In Action Hero, players will find themselves immersed in a dynamic world where time moves only as they do. This unique mechanic allows for carefully orchestrated gunplay, reminiscent of John Wick’s electrifying style. Set to hit Quest 2 headsets and newer models on December 12th, the game takes players on a journey through five different cinematic experiences, each representing a distinct movie genre.
“Each film unfolds in four acts, with every act comprising five challenging scenes,” the studio has explained. Progress is achieved by overcoming enemies and navigating obstacles, all while moving in a dramatic slow-motion, where time itself speeds up in response to your actions. Sharp reflexes and strategic planning are key, as taking a hit sends you back to the start of the current act.
Fast Travel Games has given us a glimpse of some of the genres that will be featured, including a thrilling heist, an Indiana Jones-like escapade, a futuristic cyborg story, and an action-packed ninja sequence. The latest trailer gives an exciting peek at the ninja flick in particular.
Beyond the intense slow-motion shootouts, Action Hero will also bring boss battles and a variety of weapons tailored to each cinematic setting. Additionally, each movie will feature five ‘Director’s Cuts’—modified levels offering new challenges and eccentric scenarios.
Exclusively hitting Quest 2 and newer devices on December 12th for $20, Action Hero promises a wild VR ride. Those eager to dive into this action-packed experience can add the game to their wishlist on the Horizon Store right now.
