It seems that Dragon Age: The Veilguard has rolled out what could be its final significant update, judging by the latest patch notes. Electronic Arts recently shared that the game has attracted 1.5 million players. However, this figure falls short of expectations by half. As a result, the company made the tough call to stop further post-launch support a mere three months after the game’s release.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Update 5 Patch Notes
Ahead of revealing Update 5 for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Bioware announced that it will now only keep an eye on the game for critical bugs and other issues. This statement has led many to believe that this marks the last major update for the game.
"We were thrilled with the game’s stability at launch and hope you’ve appreciated the Quality of Life updates we’ve provided since," the patch notes stated. "Now that the game is in a good place, our focus will shift to addressing any major bugs that might crop up."
Although Bioware hasn’t openly stated it, this has all the signs of a concluding update.
Here’s what else is covered in the patch notes:
Quality of Life Changes:
- Side quests now come with recommended levels, addressing the issue of players receiving them at much lower levels.
Bug Fixes:
- An issue where Rook could only flirt with Lucanis during a specific conversation has been fixed.
- The "Regrets of The Dread Wolf" quest, which was either failing to trigger correctly or blocking Rook with an invisible barrier in the Crossroads, is now fixed.
- A puzzle-related blockage in the Converged City area of the Crossroads has been resolved.
- The "Imperium’s Resolve" armor now functions as intended, eliminating its previous issue of causing negative damage.
- Clipping issues on Taash’s “Rivain’s Legacy” armor have been corrected.
- Some Rooks who were unable to change the runes on their lyrium dagger should now be able to do so.
- The Medium Armor Mastery skill for Warriors has been fixed.
- A problem on Rivain’s beach where Rook could get stuck in a perpetual drowning loop has been addressed.
- A typo found on a note in Dock Town by Rook has been corrected.
- The quality of photo mode screenshots has been improved when HDR is enabled.
- The location indicator for photo mode screenshots that continued to appear onscreen has been removed.
- Flickering fireflies in the initial Crossroads area, which were causing a visual disturbance on certain settings, have been fixed.
- A lighting issue during a team conversation in the Lighthouse has been addressed.
- Issues with zooming in and out using the mouse scroll wheel in the Mirror of Transformation have been resolved.
- The Objective Marker Visibility settings will now update correctly when changing presets in the Exploration sub-category.
- There have been some adjustments made to the game credits.
With these updates, the final touches have been put on Dragon Age: The Veilguard, though the possibility of critical fixes remains on the table. EA’s significant reduction in support further underscores the game’s transition into maintenance mode.
