After seven years of anticipation, the sequel to Warhorse Studios’ celebrated RPG, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, is here. Unsurprisingly, it’s causing quite a stir on Steam’s charts for Windows PC.
As I pen this, the game, which promises over 100 hours of open-world adventure, is entertaining 127,139 players concurrently on Valve’s platform. Earlier today, it even peaked at 159,351 users, according to SteamDB statistics. This places it as the fifth most-played game on Steam at the moment—fourth if you skip the automated clicker game Banana—with its numbers surpassing major titles like PUBG: Battlegrounds and Grand Theft Auto 5. This performance is a significant leap from the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance, whose peak was just over 96,000 players.
What’s more, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 tops Steam’s Top Sellers list, maintaining its lead for more than a day after briefly slipping to a few competitors. It’s attracting more buyers and downloads than hits like Civilization 7, Counter-Strike 2, Destiny 2, Marvel Rivals, and numerous other recent titles.
The game’s dazzling success on PC speaks volumes, and although we lack solid data for its console release, I have no doubt it’s made equally strong impressions on the Xbox Series X|S and PS5 fanbases. Given the scope of what Warhorse Studios laid out—an expanded world, intricate player interactivity, enhanced role-playing and combat systems, and an expansive storyline eclipsing even the likes of Baldur’s Gate 3—this level of buzz was to be expected.
Critics mirror this excitement, largely agreeing that the sequel delivers on its promises. Across platforms, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 boasts an impressive Metacritic score of 88. The game’s performance and combat, notably more dynamic than its predecessor, have been particularly praised.
My own experience with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 led me to declare it as “the perfect RPG sequel.” In my in-depth review, I called it “an undeniable triumph from Warhorse Studios” and “one of the best RPGs I’ve ever played,” predicting it to be a frontrunner for 2025’s Game of the Year. With a “Very Positive” rating on Steam—93% of 2,199 users giving it the thumbs up—players evidently share my sentiment.
While we’re talking about a release early on a workday, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s numbers could very well soar past the 200,000 mark in the coming weekend and might even break the 300,000 threshold.
Having followed Kingdom Come: Deliverance since its Kickstarter days, it’s thrilling to witness Warhorse’s growth and the series’ continued success. With Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, their vision has truly come to fruition, and I couldn’t be more pleased.
Available on February 4, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 lands on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG), and PS5. It’s undeniably among the top Xbox and PC games this year, so RPG lovers should definitely consider grabbing it—especially at the killer price of $44.99 on CDKeys.
