Slavic Magic, the developer behind Manor Lords, has just unveiled a glimpse of what’s coming in the next update for the game. Players are in for a treat, with the introduction of a bridge-building feature, revamped deep mining mechanics, fresh maps, and an efficient overstock system. The excitement doesn’t stop there; soon, everyone will have the opportunity to dive into these innovations through the game’s public beta.
Manor Lords, since its early access launch in April 2024, has been nothing short of a phenomenon, racking up impressive sales figures—over a million copies sold within a day and more than 2.5 million by September. The game, born from a seven-year solo development journey, stands out for its historical precision and engaging features. Among these, the gridless building system deserves a nod as it empowers players to craft settlements that unfold with the organic charm of authentic medieval towns. With the game still in its early stages, Slavic Magic is slowly revealing what enthusiasts can anticipate in the forthcoming update.
One of the most talked-about additions in the latest blog post is the bridge-building tool. This feature harmonizes with the existing road tool, enabling players to construct bridges over rivers. Not only does this serve a functional purpose, but it also enhances the visual appeal of their settlements. Meanwhile, the deep mine mechanic is getting a facelift with new cranking animations, bringing more depth and realism as workers venture underground for resources.
Also on the horizon are two new maps, High Peaks and Winding River, offering a variety of landscapes for players to explore and build upon. A map selection feature will be introduced, simplifying how players choose their gaming environment. Moreover, managing resources in larger settlements is about to become easier with the overstock mechanic, which allows for preemptive stockpiling of goods.
Another quality-of-life improvement to look forward to is the reordering of unit cards. Organized gameplay becomes seamless as players can now drag and drop unit cards to efficiently manage their armies. Eager fans won’t have to wait much longer, as these features will be accessible in the upcoming public beta.
Even though Manor Lords has faced some flak for its slower development pace earlier in the year, the publisher has defended its strategy, stressing the importance of sustainable growth over the rapid pace of live-service models. As anticipation builds for the latest features, Slavic Magic remains dedicated to refining and enhancing the game’s experience.
