Insomniac Games has made it clear to their eagerly waiting fans that they will release updates about Marvel’s Wolverine for the PS5 only when they’re ready. The studio’s message was a firm reminder that they won’t be influenced by external pressures to reveal information prematurely.
In the midst of discussions about a PC port for Spider-Man 2, one fan took to Twitter, voicing frustration over what they saw as the studio’s neglect of PS5 players hungry for Wolverine news. The comment was laced with sarcasm, calling Insomniac a “great team.”
It’s not typical for Insomniac Games to reply to such tweets, but they chose to make an exception this time. Their response was clear: “We’ll share news about the game when we are ready to share it,” emphasizing that the timing will be on their own terms. They pointed out that developing a game involves time, resources, and the right moment to make announcements, which isn’t always aligned with public demand.
Despite the clamoring for updates, Insomniac assured fans that development on Wolverine is still very much in progress.
Late in 2023, the company faced a serious challenge when a ransomware attack led to the leaking of significant alpha footage of Wolverine. Insomniac expressed their disappointment over the breach but confirmed that it hasn’t derailed the game’s development or their plans for its eventual reveal.
Announced back in September 2021, Marvel’s Wolverine has been shrouded in mystery since, with very little shared with the public. Extended development timelines are increasingly common in the gaming world, so fans might need to exercise patience before they get a glimpse of substantial gameplay.
